On May 18th (Election Day Eve), Young Involved Philadelphia (YIP) will be hosting a millennial Get Out the Vote (GOTV) Phone Bank from 6pm to 8pm at 1628 JFK Boulevard, Suite 1002. Per usual, YIP will be providing food, drink, and light alcoholic refreshment to countdown the literal hours before Election Day.
We know what you must be thinking: the messages are out, the grassroots are mobilized, the doors have been answered, and the election has already been won or lost in the minds of the media and candidates.
However, there are still calls to be made to encourage voters to actually show up to the polls and cast their ballots: calls that could decide the differences between victory and defeat for several candidates who will shape Philadelphia over the next several years and impact our day-to-day life.
This phone bank will be dedicated to contacting undervoting millennials who live in the Center City area that have not voted in the last year.
Encouraging these millennials who didn’t show up to the polls for the State to show up to the polls for the City will increase millennial turnout and make strides in showcasing the millennial population as a political force, and more importantly, a body of citizens worthy of being heard.
Come out and be heard. Help other millennials find their voices.
